HISTORY In ancient Rome and Greece it was permissible in certain situations to help a person die.For example in ancient Sparta, infaticide was an everyday occurrence performed on children who were considered to be ill suited for health and vigour. In India it was customary to throw old people in to the Ganges. Also in ancient Sardinia old men were beaten to death by their own sons. In the 20th century the Nazis passed the only actual policy to make Euthanasia a compulsary practice. A board of physicians and selected government officials were given the task of selecting members of the public, who were supposedly suffering from incurable diseases, and put them to death. All those who were in any way viewed to be a burden to the society also met the same fate.
